From May 16 to 19, 2025, the 19th National Symposium on Spatial Structures was successfully held in Harbin, with over 450 elite representatives from universities, research institutes, design and construction units across the country attending, and nearly ten thousand people watching the live stream online.

The opening ceremony was solemn and enthusiastic. The ceremony was hosted by Wu Jinzhi, Secretary-General of the Spatial Structures Branch. Prof. Xue Suduo, President of the Spatial Structures Branch and Professor at Beijing University of Technology, Liu Yi, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Steel Structure Association, Xu Dongfeng, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Fan Feng, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology, successively delivered speeches. Special expert appointment ceremonies and the Qingying Award awarding ceremony were subsequently held, gathering many authoritative figures in the industry to witness the moment of honor, making the academic atmosphere increasingly intense.

Next came the special report session, where this conference invited Prof. Xue Suduo, Academician Hong Hanping, Academician Xie Yimin, Master Ding Jiemin, and Vice President Fan Feng to give 27 excellent plenary reports. They deeply analyzed the cutting-edge theories and innovative achievements in the field of spatial structures with their profound professional knowledge and rich practical experience. An AI and spatial structures salon discussion was also organized. Yu Yinquan and Wang Yuanqing served as hosts for the plenary reports, controlling the pace of the meeting and promoting efficient academic exchanges. In the group report sessions, the conference arranged three sub-forums based on grid structures, cable structures, and membrane structures, totaling 57 reports covering the latest developments in theoretical aspects, computational analysis, experiments, design, manufacturing, and installation of spatial structures.

Wang Weiqiang, Chairman of Shenzhen Yexing Intelligent Spatial Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to participate in this conference and share his insights during the group report session. During the sharing process, the chairman combined the company’s long-term practice in the field of membrane structures, starting from actual project cases, to share innovative technical ideas and practical application results, actively interacting and exchanging with on-site experts, scholars, and peers. At the closing ceremony, former President Zhang Yigang of the Conference Exchange Branch highly praised this conference, affirming its positive role in promoting industry exchanges and technological development, and pointing out four key areas that need attention for the future development of spatial structures, providing a clear path forward for industry practitioners. After the conference, attendees visited the renovation project of the Harbin International Convention and Sports Center, the venue for the 9th Asian Winter Games Opening Ceremony, and the national major scientific research instrument ‘Comprehensive Simulation System for Wind-Rain-Thermal-Snow Processes in Large-Span Spatial Structures,’ experiencing up close the innovative application results of spatial structure technology in real engineering and scientific research.
